Mud Kitchens – hours of fun for children
Simon Downes from Witley Jones Furniture in Stourport has been busy making a mud kitchen for Bewdley Primary School, for use in their outdoor area.
Children love mud kitchens! They are a great way to get children outside and playing together with nature, in a creative way.
Mud kitchens are very cross-curricular, meaning they can be used to reach many learning objectives from EYFS.
In terms of mathematical aspects, teachers can encourage activities which involve measuring water and mixing water in set quantities to see the different outcomes. Children can weigh and count their natural ‘ingredients’ too!
