HME will be delivering D&T training to teachers and technicians from across Worcestershire in their purpose built Training Centre in Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove to build a D&T Training Centre.
The facility was built with support from the Birmingham City Council Business Innovation Programme and was opened by Sajid Javid MP and Richard Green Chief Executive of Design and Technology Association.
The Design and Technology Association require all D&T teachers, technicians and support staff within schools to be competent and this competence is best achieved through training. The training facility at HME will provide these teachers with training for a wide variety of machinery, including hand tools, drilling machines and portable power tools.
Due to schools in Worcestershire requiring this training and with the Worcestershire LEA making cuts the training is now longer available via the county, HME saw this as an opportunity to provide a training solution to these schools.
The development of this training facility then led onto interest from Worcestershire County Council, who has now approved HME to provide D&T training to schools across Worcestershire.
