Solutions for Schools – 24th April
Latest Posts
On Friday 24th April we will be holding our second Solutions for Schools event.
The FREE event is designed to bring the county’s head teachers, teachers, business managers and governors closer to local suppliers to help shape the future of education in Worcestershire.
The event, which takes place at Coomber Audio, comprises a range of speakers and sessions tailored to the needs of our schools. We have Teachmeet and Meet the Supplier sessions that provide delegates with two excellent networking opportunities which are sandwiched by our guest speakers.
Teachmeet is a great way for teachers, head teachers, SENCOs and governors to their share ideas and good news stories from their schools. These could be ideas from the classroom, exam preparation or even projects and events that have been taking place in school. Teachmeets are also ideal opportunities to air any questions or problems with like-minded professionals.
Bringing local suppliers closer to local education is an integral part of what the Worcestershire Education Network stands for and the Meet the Supplier session is open for schools to book appointments with our members to discuss areas that they require help with. We have recently welcomed a variety of new members to our group, extending the range of services within the network so that we can cater for the needs of schools in the local area. With a broad mix of products and services covering the curriculum, technology, professional services and school grounds, use this session to meet local businesses that can help you.
Our first guest speaker is Andy Wheeler from Worcestershire County Cricket Club talking about the new and exciting programmes aimed at getting Worcestershire children to play cricket. Sport should be seen as an extension of the classroom, the skills and lessons that are developed through the programmes are not entirely centred on the game.
We have Dave Smith, National Leader of Education and head teacher, as our keynote speaker who will be giving a talk on leadership in education. From his experience as a head teacher, Dave will be providing an insight into his thoughts on “Upside-down leadership” in a school and how we should concentrate on the people in schools and build up from the base. Dave will also be speaking at the Teachmeet to share successful resources and best practice used in his own primary school.
With schools facing changes to their budgets and how they are managed, finance is a hot topic. Worcester Education Network members Andy Wood from Bishop Fleming and Ian McWalter from MCW Cost Consultancy Ltd alongside Simon Williams will be giving a talk on how to unleash the hidden funds in a school and reduce overheads by 30% or more.
Russell Dalton, who was a speaker at our first event, will be returning to give a talk on the “Income Generation”. As Finance and Business Director at Pershore High School and Chair Worcestershire Association of School Business Managers, Russell is key figure in the local education sector and we are privileged to be affiliated with both WASBM and Russell.
After the programme of speakers and sessions, Solutions for Schools will be conclude with lunch and raffle before closing at 2pm.
With space filling up fast both for the event as whole and the individual slots for the Teachmeet and Meet the Supplier sessions, book your place today.
This FREE event is the ideal opportunity to get to know the Worcestershire Education Network and how we can work together to improve your school.
